Summary: Shal leaves sanctuary and finds some one hunting her. but strange that the scent is so familiar.
dont own them so back off. ;D
Breathing slowed as bodies tensed against the assault. Eyes flared at each other, sending small warnings.
Shalimar kicked the agent in the chest, satisfied when a loud cry followed as the agent flew a few feet away. She always enjoyed watching them fall, even if it only lasted a second. A second was long enough to make her feel more predator. More alive and the thrill of the fight would course through every vain in her body.
She almost looked like she would zone out for a split second when her feral side would pickup the sound of a backwards attacker. But her body would easily flick into action; taking out the threat before any damage was made.
She smiled as all the agent lay on the floor, all around her. A circle of bodies now lay at her feet, almost like an offering to a god. But she merely looked back as she exited.
“Well, well, well…you broke your old record again”.
She stopped and turned right to stare at the opposes. But his heavenly scent denied her to feel the rage that once overtook her and replaced it with calmness. Some thing else lay beneath the surface but she would only deny it until it threatened to the point where it would consume her and take her on an endless run. Never would she purposely bury herself in the calm and smouldering walls of her subconscious where on the surface, her feral would rule.
He remained quiet, not saying another word. Not moving his lips, which may provoke her to take that one step further.
She stared for a second before walking towards him, not fearing if he broke under the strain of her silence.
She had stayed away from him on purpose. But now he stood there, expecting her to explain. But inside, he already knew why she had left them. It had only been a day and yet here he was, still waiting for her.
She dared to think he would still be waiting for her at the end. When her life would draw to the bridge of heaven asking for entry, and he would be her angel, to let her in.
She looked into his eyes and sore it. The pain that she had caused him. She almost wanted to just grab his head and let him enclose his protective arms around her. But she couldn’t. She needed to show herself she could stand-alone. Like she used to.
She tried to speak but his eyes seemed to glitter with a new emotion. Something that over took her voice and mind and condemned her to silence.
She froze…he was still waiting.
“…” She had no words for him and she doubted he would want her apology. No the only thing they would want was her. Shalimar fox. The feral they all knew. They all loved…especially him.
He lifted his hand and pointed to her bike that the rain out side was now pouring its self on. “ Your bike’s getting wet…Shal…why have you cornered your self off”.
There, there was the question she had asked over and over…and she couldn’t tell him. It would hurt him too much.
He straightened, leaning off the wall and walking to his bike, that he then lent against. He crossed his arms still waiting, he could wait for eternity and longer for her and she’d never notice.
She looked at her bike and then to him. Was he trying to make her choose, between a life of never counting on any one and never being tied down….or with him.
Suddenly an idea spread in her mind, making her smile and him take notice.
Glancing towards him she gave him a challenging look before getting to her bike and revving it up.
He looked nervous at her, “…Shal!” She swung the bike round with ease and moved towards him. “ Come on Bren…”
With that the bike roared and flew away.
But like a predator as she expected, Brennan followed his chase.
She took him for a joy ride around the city before pulling into the wood where she would lose him.
She stopped the bike and was almost disappointed when no more noise followed her. She sighed and climbed off the bike, walking a bit deeper into the woods.
She got to the clearing near the waterfall and marvelled at the sight above.
The moon was high, full of life and almost a calling for predator. At the top, water splashed where it crashed against the soil above, sending glittering sprinkles up, so high it seemed to reach the moon.
She inhaled, taking in the full glory of it all. Only then did her senses go on high alert at his scent. He was so close…why didn’t she sense him.
A cloud of nervous and anticipation clogged her stomach and she almost felt him moving towards her, stalking her.
No…he couldn’t …but he still was trying.
Back at sanctuary she had taught him to deceive a feral and spread a scent all around if you were tracked…but if you were tracking.
She swung around, waiting for his attack. The woods deceived her by remaining still and lifeless. She sighed, he would try to wait her out.
The feral within, scratched at her mind, begging for her to release it and turn the hunter into the hunted. To begin the hunt...she needed to know where he was, and at the moment, to her…he was invisible.
She grunted inwards, he was getting closer and still know where in sight. He was better than last time and giving her little choice but only to return his actions.
She bared her teeth in annoyance and her eyes flared with familiar gold. She through her arms up as she leapt onto the trees. Waiting him out.
He smiled as he sore her reach his level of sight. His mind anxiously waited for her head to turn to him, to see him and then…he would see her act.
She slowly moved around the tree, watching the ground like a hawk waiting for the pray to scatter to hiding. She flashed her eyes more, ‘ why hadn’t he moved yet’.
Until finally it dawned on her. Her hair flicked up as her headshot up, looking around the tops of the trees.
And then…there he was. Standing on the branch, arms crossed over his muscular chest, his body remaining in the darkness.
It was only his scent that had helped her, her eyes were useless only until she needed them in the dark.
He was smiling as if he had waited for her hours. Her eyes flared and she jumped to his tree. Smacking her hand on the part of tree just above his head, pushing her head forwards, revealing her eyes that now grew with approval rather than anger.
“…what are you going to do now Shal…” she froze, waiting to see if his hard eyes denied his expectance of her. She moved her hand down to his cheek, wanting to see his reaction/
None…his eyes remained the same and as did his face.
She turned and went to walk away to drop down when his voice came to her ears as a whisper. “ …I’ll be waiting”.
She smiled, dropping down and landing with grace. She smiled and retraced her steps back towards the waterfall. She looked back, to where he once was now remained empty and dark. He was gone…but he would still be waiting for her at the end.
