Enjoy. Reply and all is happy.
GOOD vs. EVIL 13
Brennan stood up and stretched his back, he was nervous still. In one hour it would be fully dark, and it would be hard to see them in the dark. He walked to Shalimar and nudged her arm lightly. She’s fallen asleep while he was talking to Adam.
A branch snapped behind him an he whirled around, energy already crackling. A deer was standing 10 feet from them, and when he swung in its direction, it froze. For a second, Brennan felt the deer’s fear, the way its eyes went unfocused and all the muscle in its body tensed. He knew the feeling well from when he was younger.
He dropped his hand slowly to the floor, and finally the deer’s legs kicked in and it fled. He sighed; already his body grew heavy and drained of energy. He dropped back onto a tree and lay there, next to Shalimar. It felt like the wind was carrying him to sleep, with its caressing hands that seemed to brush over his eyelids and close them. Nothing felt better to him, as night drew in; his body was fully relaxed against the tree as well Shalimar’s. As they lay there, all eyes seemed to pull to them as they lay together.
Brennan shifted, always a light sleeper, could here all the chirps and tweets of the animals in the trees, even slithering and small feet running.
The breeze picked up a bit, and to Brennan, it felt like a hand ran through his hair. He forced his eyes open, but nothing was there. He relaxed again, listening to Shalimar’s breathing as she was determined not to wake up.
His mind was now awake, and refused to sleep. It was nagging at him, screaming almost, shouting some thing was wrong. He opened his eyes wide, looking around again, and he knew the feeling that was creeping up on him. Fear.
He could feel some one’s eyes running over the two of them, waiting for him to fall to sleep again.
He stood up; brushing off his trousers and quickly did a scan with his eyes of the tree’s above. Nothing.
He felt his body shiver, shiver from the cold now. The coldness didn’t just feel like it was a breeze, but a presence that enveloped him in its arm’s. Sighing he turned back to where he had lay, ready to move Shal and him self to a new area. Sitting around just meant the beast would get closer, and closer to them.
He scooped her up into his arms; her head instinctively fell to his shoulder. As he moved, he wished and prayed no one was out there. If there was…he knew who it would be. He was breathing heavily, another thing he wanted to end, but it didn’t.
He reached an open field, tree’s behind him and Shalimar now. There were more tree’s about 30 feet away, and a waterfall to there right. To their left, was a dark path, which he would never think of taking. His eyes were straining to see now, and he thought about waking Shal up. Finally he decided it would be best if he did. With her senses being so much better than his, she would sense them coming.
He shook her, and in a flash her eyes were open, blazing with the feral in her. He let her down and she walked forwards onto the field. After a few seconds she nodded for him to follow.
As they walked across the field, both feeling more uneasy at every second, they could hear some thing moving through the trees. Shalimar looked back at him and nodded in the direction of the noise, he nodded back, his hands sparkling with energy.
They drew closer to the bush, which the noise was coming from behind. Shalimar grabbed the bush with fluent movement, ragging it out the way.
Brennan froze as like the deer had, his mind recognising the figure as soon as he saw it. He glanced at Shal and then moved forwards to pick up the small figure that was crouched down and shivering near the tree trunk.
As he lifted the figure into his arms, it went numb and let out a small moan of protest. Shalimar’s eyes grew gentle as she saw what Brennan was holding.
The helix landed near a cliff, as to not alert the creature. When every one filed out, Adam called Brennan on the com-ring.
“ Brennan…you there” The connection went fuzzy again, then Shalimar’s voice came through.
“ Were here Adam, Where are you guys?”
Adam let out a small breath he’d been holding, “ Near the cliff edge, can you guys get here alright”. It went silent for a moment, “...Shalimar?”
“ ye Adam, we can make it there, just get the medic- kit ready…we’ve got a situation”.
Adam looked back at Jesse, and in return Jesse disappeared into the Helix, and in a few minute returned with what was needed.
They waited for about 5 minutes before Shalimar appeared into the clearing. Logan sprinted towards her, steadying her on him, taking the pressure off her bad leg. Adam was next to run to her. He knelt down to examine her thigh. She shrugged off all the hands and nodded her head in Brennan’s direction.
When Brennan came through the clearing, he was pale and Adam rose immediately, unaware of what Brennan held.
When Brennan reached them, he was out of breath from having to carry, two people in only under an hour. Adam was checking to see if he had any head injuries, and it was Charles who opened up Adam’s eyes to what Brennan held.
“ Brennan…Adam, what is he holding”.
Adam stopped dead and stared down at the bundle in Brennan’s arms. He looked back up at Brennan in fear of what this may mean. Brennan stared right back at him and quickly Jesse took the child off Brennan and started on him with the Medic- kit.
Brennan’s arms dropped down, all there strength gone and he was bearly able to stand. Shalimar limped over to him and tugged him towards the helix.
Brennan watched as every one boarded the Helix and again he felt Shalimar tugging his arm to get on. With a weary glance back he moved to the helix and the all flew off. Unaware of a smiling figure standing in the darkness.
“ Now Brennan, you and your friends shall share the pain…but there will be more for you than them…that’s my promise”.
And then the figure started its way back to its hide out.
Ok. it will end soon, but i warn you, i may drag it out. I want this story to be my best.
Thx for reading.
