The alleyway was dark; steam was rising from the sewage vents making it hard to see if you walked by. A tall figure stepped out from the shadows cutting through the thick fog like air the steam was creating. Her long cloak was flapping out behind her as she began walking out of the alleyway, only to stop underneath a streetlight to catch a glance of her new surroundings. A hood, which she had placed over her head before stepping out onto the street, was casting shadows over the woman’s face only revealing her lips and chin. Her lip suddenly curled up into a sly devilish grin, before she quickly slipped out from under the light and back into the shadows covering the rest of the sidewalk. She stopped once again, this time in front of a club unnoticed by anyone. Her eyes flashed a deep red, smelling the unnatural blood from several humans walking out of the club. ‘Mutants your days have come…’ she thought to herself before throwing her hands to the sky causing it to immediately rain. Lightning and thunder filled the sky, and the women put down her hands down giving a wicked grin as the blood red color of her eyes returned to their normal dark brown.
* * *
The rain suddenly came down without any notice, making Brannan and Shalimar dash off to the car after Jesse and Emma. The two climbed into the back seat, shaking of the rain that collected on their jackets. “Sorry we took so long,” Shalimar told her two friends in front of them. “You just had to get that last dance in,” Jesse huffed starting the car up. “If that rain just didn’t knock out my powers, I would so fry your ass right now,” Brennan grumbled shaking his head trying to dry himself off. Shalimar and Emma just laughed at the two men exchange looks and Jesse drove off back towards Sanctuary unaware of everything and everyone.
* * *
The women glanced up at the car driving away, the rain dripping off of her hood ‘your day of reckoning will come mutants. It is now my time to reign and I will get the man will make that come true,’ she thought before walking back off to alley she emerged from. She moved back into the shadows of the alley and stood still hanging her head while mumbling an ancient language never heard by human ears before. The rain stopped and a dark warrior appeared in the back of the alleyway, the woman slowly looked up seeing the large man walking towards her with a drawn broad sword in his hand. She smiled keeping her face hidden underneath her cloaks large hood. The man looking only a few years younger than the women slowly approached her kneeling down on one knee, and lean on his sword. “You summoned me mistress?” the man question. “Yes Damon, I want you to find the man who will fulfill my destiny,” the woman smirked. The warrior just nodded and stood up. Then she said to him with a low growling voice “But remember bring him to me alive!” “It will be my pleasure mistress,” the man said, he stood and slid his sword into its sheath that was strapped onto his back. “I want him by tomorrow night, or you will be punished,” she threatened. “Mistress I will bring him to you in one piece and tomorrow I promise,” the man said with a spark of orange flashing in his eyes and a grin on his face, before she nodded for him to leave. He then just disappeared again into the shadows.

Jesse parked the Audi in the garage and the team pilled out. It was late and Adam was isolating himself again in the lab, like he always did when they went out to a club. Everyone slowly moved to his or her room Brennan slowly followed behind Shalimar until the other two had disappeared into their designated room. He quickly reached out and grabbed her arm stopping her in her tracks. She turned around to face him; he wore a huge smile on his face so she smiled back. “So…ah…I had a good time tonight,” Brennan thought of quickly. “I did too…you know you’re a pretty good dancer once you loosen up,” she grinned taking a step closer grabbing onto his jacket playing with the ends. Brennan thingyed his head at her and gave a small chuckle; “well I have to give credit to my amazing partner.” His words made Shalimar blush slightly, “well maybe we can do it again tomorrow night.” Brennan brushed a stray piece of golden hair away from Shalimar’s face. “Ya, it sounds great.” “Good…” Shalimar stared into Brennan’s for a brief moment. “Well goodnight,” she leaned in a gave Brennan a quick peck on the lips before turning around and entering her room, leaving Brennan out in the hall a little stunned.

Shalimar had been training intensely, trying to pass the time before heading off clubbing later that night. She was focused; not knowing someone was watching her from dark doorway leading into to the room. He stood quietly, waiting for his chance to make his presence known, while Shalimar move effortlessly around the holograms dropping kicks and punches when needed. The holograms disappeared Shalimar was breathing hard and was about to walk over to grab her bottle of water when she heard someone clapping by the door. She practically jumped out of her skin totally unaware anyone was in the room with her. “Holy shit, Brennan!” She growled. “Sorry, but I thought ferals could sense everything,” Brennan teased walking up to her. She smiled sweetly at him as Brennan bent down grabbing her water bottle and walked slowly over to her. “Ya whatever,” Shalimar huffed at his comment. “Here,” he handed her bottle over to her. She smiled, “thanks.” She quickly took a couple of sips and then stared up at Brennan who was watching her. She raised one of her eyebrows and gave him a weird look, “what?” He quickly snapped out of his gaze, “huh?” “What are you looking at?” She asked giving a sly smile. “Oh nothing,” he replied quickly. “Surrre you weren’t,” Shalimar teased giving his arm a playful hit. Brennan looked down at his feet then looked back up into Shalimar’s eyes. “I know you just got down training, but do you wanna spar against me? I mean we still have a couple of hours before we go clubbing.” The mention of clubbing sent shivers up Shalimar’s spine, she had been thinking about dancing with Brennan all day. “I’d love to,” she smiled. Brennan looked down at his new silk like shirt, “do you mind if I take off my shirt?” The question caught Shalimar off guard, usually she wouldn’t care seeing him without his shirt on, but things were becoming different now. “Ahh…not at all, I mean you wouldn’t want to get your new shirt all sweaty.” Brennan smiled and unbuttoned his shirt at dropped it down beside him. Shalimar’s eyes widened but quickly took a drink of her water to show she really didn’t care. Brennan stepped forward, “Ready?” “Yup,” Shalimar replied tossing her water aside. “Powers, yes or no?” Brennan questioned crossing his arms over his chest. Shalimar thought for a second, “yes.” “Yes?” Brennan was kind of surprised. “Ya lets make it interesting,” she smiled crouching down getting ready for an attack. Brennan grinned fine with me, “I’m just warning you that…” Before he could finish Shalimar lunged herself at him. Brennan tried dodging but it was no use, so he tried throwing a small amount of electricity at her completely knowing she would easily maneuver around it. Which she did, right before tackling Brennan to the ground and sat her self right on his chest. “Ok, how about no powers?” Brennan huffed. “I thought you might say that,” Shalimar laughed, slowly getting off of his chest. She stuck out her hand to help Brennan up; he smiled and took it willingly. He stood up and brushed off his pants. “I should never ask that question when I spar with you, I’ll always lose,” he mumbled. “You always lose, even without powers,” Shalimar teased again. Brennan laughed, “true.” Brennan smiled, “ok lets try this again.” “Fine with me,” Shalimar said preparing for Brennan to make the first move. He quickly stepped up into a roundhouse kick towards Shalimar head; she reached out and grabbed his foot flipping him to the ground. Brennan jumped back up and through a couple more kicks her way. Shalimar blocked them with ease and returned some punches of her own. Brennan fell hard on his back, he had seen more of the floor in the last hour then he ever thought he would. Shalimar stood over him with a huge grin on her face “you lost again,” she smirked. “I know… I know,” Brennan said out of breath. Shalimar put out her hand again for him to take; once he took a hold she pulled him to his feet. “Will I ever win against you?” Brennan asked reluctant to let go of her hand so quickly. “Ahh…” Shalimar thought for a second and took a couple a steps closer to him, “no.” Brennan gave a nervous laugh watching her get only a few inches away from him. “I didn’t think so.” The two gazed at each other in a way that hinting they were becoming more than just friends, Brennan couldn’t help but began to lean down towards Shalimar’s lips. Shalimar’s heart began beating profusely; she swore Brennan could probably hear it. Brennan was starting to get shivers through his whole body as he continued down to capture her lips. He was only centimeters way, when Shalimar pulled away hearing footstep about to enter the room. Brennan looked up and saw Emma enter the room with a huge smile on her face. “Are you coming to get ready?” she asked Shalimar. “Huh?” Shalimar wasn’t quite sure what the hell she was talking about; she was more focused on how Brennan was just about to kiss her. “You know clubbing, dancing, drinks, and hot guys?” Emma laughed. Shalimar smiled and gave a small sigh taking a few steps away from Brennan who was standing still in the same place, “ya I’m coming.” Emma grinned and began walking away with Shalimar right behind her. Shalimar turned around to see Brennan watching her leave; she lingered at the door for a moment “later,” was all she mouthed before taking off after Emma.
Shalimar was finishing up her hair when a she heard a knock on the door. “Come in!” She yelled from her bathroom. Emma slowly opened up the door, “Shal are you ready?” “Ya just a sec,” Shalimar yelled to her. “Good cuz the boys are ready to go,” Emma explained. Shalimar hurried out of the bathroom, “ok, ready,” she said quickly as she grabbed her purse off of her bed. “Lets go,” Emma opened up the door and the two girls headed down the hall to meet the guys in the garage. Brennan and Jesse looked up hearing the girls talking as they came into the garage. Brennan couldn’t help but look Shalimar up and down once. ‘God she’s gorgeous,’ he told himself, seeing her in a tight tan corset like top, with long sleeves flaring out at her elbows almost reminding him of an medieval time shirt. He slightly lingered at her jeans; they were low cut hugging tightly to every curve of her body. “Whoa, you girls look great,” Jesse said snapping Brennan back to reality. “Thanks Jesse,” Shalimar replied with a smile, while they moved up closer to them. “Ya you girls look amazing,” Brennan added, basically directing his comment to Shalimar making eye contact with only her. Shalimar gave him a sly smile, “so we ready to go?” “Yup,” Jesse said jingling the keys out in front of him, indicating that he was ready to drive. “Lets to then,” Emma said anxious to go, and began walking around the Audi to climb into the passenger seat as the rest followed suit.

Emma and Shalimar were the first ones to get into the club and out on the dance floor before the guys had a chance to see if they would like to dance. Jesse and Brennan slowly made their way over to the bar to grab drinks before going to find a table near the dance floor. The club was darker than usual, but the music was great and the drinks made it even better. Shalimar finally broke away from the massive sea of people, and made her way over to the guys. Jesse and Brennan stopped their little talk about nothing and looked up at Shalimar who approached their table. “So you guys going to dance or what?” She asked putting her hands on her hips. “Ahh...I’m set Shal thanks,” Jesse replied taking a sip of his drink. Before Shalimar could ask Brennan, he stood up “sure.” Shalimar smiled broadly and reached out grabbing his hand dragging him along after her to the dance floor. The two began dancing, but it was different this time around their bodies where closer making more contact then every before. He watched from off in a corner, watching the man interact with his fellow teammates. Make a mental note of every move he made; the way he walked, talked, and even sipped his beer. He gave a sly smile when seeing his change in attitude when the blonde dragged him onto the dance floor. Shalimar and Brennan finished their dance and headed back over to the table laugh at a joke Brennan made about some of the people dancing around them. Brennan quickly finished off his beer. “Anyone up for another one?” He asked holding up his empty bottle. “I will,” the rest replied. “Alright,” Brennan stood up and walked over to the bar. He came back a few minutes later with four beers in his hands; “here you go,” giving them each one. They all sipped their drinks and made some small talk, but soon all returned to the dance floor. It soon became a routine, beers then dances all except for Jesse who was voted to be the DD. Brennan and Shalimar were starting to get pretty drunk, making there dancing more sexual towards each other. The team was unaware of a pair of eyes permanently watching them from a dark booth adjacent from the dance floor. The man continued to watch until he found his chance. “I’ll be right back,” Brennan slurred to Shalimar and stumbled slowly off the dance floor towards the bathroom. The man slowly stood from his seat and followed his target. Brennan stood in the middle of the bathroom trying to catch his balance before moving on. The door opened behind him, he turned slowly and eyes widening. “What the hell?” he mumbled. Without saying a word the man walked up to Brennan. Brennan stumbled backwards to get away, not wanting to believe what he was starring at, but the man moved up to him quickly slamming a fist into Brennan’s face. His head snapped back and fell back against the wall. The man stood over Brennan’s body and shook his head, “mortals.” He bent down grabbing Brennan by the shirt, slinging him over his shoulder. The man turned around and quickly moved a hand in front of him. A red rippled oval opened quickly in front of him, he repositioned Brennan on his shoulder and quickly made his way into the portal he created in front of him. It quickly closed behind him as entered his new surroundings. The man stood in a dark cave like room; the walls were covered with torches of fire giving off a small amount of light. He through down Brennan on the floor slowly waking Brennan up, rolling him self over onto his back looking up at the man that knocked him out in the bathroom of the club. He was still very drunk and the room was staring to spin as he starred up at what looked like a mirror image of him self. Brennan gave a small moan and propped himself up taking a look around the room. The room was dark and very creepy looking; he turned his head to see a large metal like desk behind him and a large black chair. Brennan got up on his knees and the man forcefully turned Brennan around to face the desk. “What is this the devil’s office?” Brennan slurred. “You’re close,” a woman’s voice announced as the chair swiveled around. Brennan head was throbbing too much to focus, all he saw were two glowing red eyes from underneath a large hood casting over the woman’s face. The man behind Brennan quickly came up and tied Brennan’s hands in front of him, so he couldn’t try anything. “Good job Damon, I’m very pleased,” the woman announced. “Thank you my mistress,” Damon replied bowing his head taking a couple of steps away from Brennan. “Who the hell are you people, some kinda f**king cult?” Brennan asked getting a massive headache. The woman noticed Brennan’s swaying and slurred speech, she snapped her fingers and a small man came forth from on of the back tunnels carrying a tray with a small shot glass filled with a green liquid. He walked up to Brennan and bent down holding the tray out in front of him. “Drink that,” the woman ordered. Brennan reluctantly took the glass with both his hands and quick drank the liquid slamming the glass back down on the tray before swallowing. Brennan could suddenly felt the burning of his throat and began violently coughing. Almost instantly Brennan’s headache began fading away and his vision less blurred. He stopped his coughing and looked up at the dark figure, “what the hell was that?” “You mortals,” she gave a low evil laugh. Brennan had no idea what the hell she was taking about but he new a kidnapping when say one, “my friends will notice I’m gone,” he blurted out. “No they won’t,” the woman said leaning forward, allowing Brennan to see only a small smile from under the shadows of her hood. “Damon, you know what to do now.” The woman said suddenly. Brennan slowly turned around, finally getting a good look at the man that brought him here, “Holy shit!” Brennan scrambled backwards.

“Yes my mistress,” Damon nodded and turned quickly, bring up a portal in front of him. “Damon!?!” The woman’s stern voice stopped him dead in his tracks. He turned around to face waiting for an order. “Bring me the souls worthy of my new army!” “Yes my mistress,” Damon replied before disappearing in the portal. Brennan turned back towards the woman and slowly brought him self to his knees again, “who the hell are you?” “I’m Kali,” she answered smugly. “Ok, so where the hell am I?” Brennan dared to ask. “Cause it looks like hell to me.” Brennan snorted, looking around at the all the fire trying to light up the cave like room. Kali didn’t answer him, proving his statement to be true; she just stood up and walked around her desk. He was finally able to get a fairly good look at her. Her face was still hidden but her black cloak flowed out behind her, revealing her seductive outfit. She had tall black boot stopping right above her knee, a very short black skirt matching her black top. Brennan looked out around her as she approached and noticed a large Doberman Pinscher following behind her. “Figures the devil would have that dog,” Brennan thought to himself. “Oh I’m not the devil, but I’m the next best thing,” Kali replied getting closer to him. “Stand!” She ordered him. Brennan did what she requested; he smiled to him self he quickly tried to form a ball of electricity. He looked down at his hands when nothing happened. “Your powers won’t work here Mr. Mulwray, trust me,” she gave another laugh. “Follow me!” Brennan followed right behind the woman, with her dog walking slowly right beside him giving him low threatening growls if he tried to slow down. They made their way through many dark tunnels; once again torches were the only source of light. The two spoke no words then Kali finally came to a stop in front of a metal door. She opened up the door towards them, and stepped out onto a long metal bridge. Brennan walked out after her; she led him to the middle and stopped. He looked over the side of the railing and his eyes widened. There were millions of humans and demon like creatures on both sides. All assigned to a different task, whether it was creating weapons or training. Brennan kept looking back at forth at the humans then the creatures, “they kinda look like those Orcs things from Lord of the Rings,” he thought to himself. Kali looked over at him “your close but they are different.” Brennan growled to him self, “I gotta stop doing that,” he mumbled. “Those are my warriors, they were once human or mutants you know. Once their souls are mine they begin to change and are under my complete control,” Kali explained. Brennan never made eye contact with her; he just watched the souls of mortals used as slaves for her immortal army. He couldn’t help but feel sorry for them all, being trapped down here forced to give up their souls for this crazy woman. Kali gave a sigh of pride, and looked at Brennan from underneath her hooded jacket. “They are totally immortal, no thoughts of their own and only one purpose… to bring total annihilation,” she smirked. “And you get these souls how?” Brennan dared to ask, knowing that no one in their right mind would sell their soul to her. Kali crossed her arms and starred down at her soldiers training, “wouldn’t you like to know.” She turned and started walking off to the opposite door. Brennan didn’t move he just looked down at them, suffering at her desire for power. Kali’s Doberman growled and quickly nipped at Brennan’s feet making him move after her. “Crazy dog,” he mumbled quickly walking off after Kali. She led Brennan down one of the many tunnels intertwining together; she came up on a large door and opened it. Kali snapped her fingers and two fairly large warriors appeared around the corner. Brennan’s eyes widened getting his first really good look at her warriors she was building. “Holy shit,” Brennan glared at them. They stepped forward, towards their master and immediately knelt down on one knee in front of her. “Keep him company, until I get back.” She ordered before walking away leaving Brennan with the two, beast like warriors. Once Kali was out of sight, the two stood letting Brennan get a good look at their unnatural features. They were as tall as Brennan if not taller and their eyes glowing an orange color. Both wore a torn pair of pants, their chest were bare with painted tattoo designs. Each one was equipped with a large broad sword firmly strapped onto their backs. Brennan was pushed into the open cell, not physical but just by the two’s physical presence towering over him with no fear or emotions in their eyes. He moved to the back of the room leaning up against the wall. Brennan just watched his two henchmen shut the door and began wondering about his friends, as his watchers stood like statues on either side of the door, just waiting for their master to return.

Jesse had taken away Shalimar and Emma’s drinks, noticing that they were both beginning to over do it. He was concentrating so hard on keeping an eye on the girls he forgot how long Brennan was gone for. Jesse jumped out of his seat when a hand slammed down on his shoulder. Jesse looked over his shoulder and let out a sigh of relief, “Brennan you scared the shit out of me.” “Sorry man,” Damon replied mimicking Brennan’s voice. “Where were you?” Jesse asked oblivious to everything. “In the bathroom,” Damon slurred remembering the state Brennan was in when he left his friends. “Brennan are you ready to go, the girls are getting a little to wild,” Jesse said with a smile on his face. Damon nodded; taking a sip of Brennan’s left over beer. His eyes widened and quickly spit back the beer into the bottle while Jesse was watching over the girls. Damon looked down at horror at the bottle, “what the hell is this?” he mumbled lowly to himself. “Did you say something?” Jesse yelled over the loud music. “Nope,” Damon replied setting the beer down on the table. “I’m going to go grab the girls so we can leave,” Jesse stated before standing. Damon shook his head yes in reply and watched Jesse walk off to the middle of the dance floor and tried to drag the girls away from their fun. Damon watched closely sucking in all the information he could on these mortals. It was bad enough he had to change his whole appearance and manner, but get stuck above the earth’s surface with mortals was going to make him go insane. Jesse huffed as he walked up to the table with Shalimar and Emma right behind him, “finally.” Damon just smiled. “Ready?” Jesse asked him. Damon nodded and stood from his stool. He stumbled forward trying to act as drunk as possible. “Hey man, you gotta ease up on the beer next time,” Jesse joked around helping his ‘friend’ balance. Damon smiled and slowly began to walk with the three out of the club. Shalimar and Emma were talking about some guys they thought were pretty cute inside. Jesse led them over to the Audi and opened up the back door for Damon allowing him to get in. Shalimar quickly climbed in the back seat with him. Damon nonhuman senses picked up Shalimar’s amazing scent. ‘For a mortal, she not bad looking.’ He thought to himself, not really interested in mortal women. He felt Shalimar creep closer to him, he let her get as close as she wanted knowing by the way the real Brennan and she were dancing earlier they might be more than just friends. Damon had to play along with whatever she did, even though he had his mind firmly set on another. Damon was getting bored, first of all he had no idea where they were going and second he could have easily gotten there in less than five seconds by using a portal. He started to get fidgety, and was having trouble keeping in character. He could feel the car down shift and Damon knew they were getting close to their destination. Damon glanced out between the two front seats and watched as they headed straight for mountainside. His eyes widened, ‘what he hell is this guy doing?’ He asked himself nervously. Without hesitation Damon closed his eyes, waiting for the impact but nothing happened. He slowly opened his eyes finding them in a dark tunnel and quickly turned into a garage filled with different styles of cars all in several lines. Jesse parked the car and the four filed out, Damon was still putting on his drunken man act. Emma and Shalimar were leaning on each other making there way into Sanctuary and towards their rooms. Jesse hung back and helped Damon to his room, as the two-walked Damon tried to memorize everything around him. Jesse walked Damon to his room and opened up the door for him. Damon entered the room, before Jesse shut the door behind him leaving him alone. Damon straightened himself up and walked normal over to the bed and flopped down. He waited about an hour, giving these mortals enough time to fall asleep. Damon slowly made his way out of the room Jesse lead him to and began to wander around Sanctuary trying to memorize every corner. He spent hours just walking around, actually admiring what these mortals had created.

Brennan just sat in the back of the cell, just watching the two henchmen, he occasionally tried to make small talk with them but they only grunted in reply or said nothing at all. His bonds around his hands were starting to hurt his wrists. Brennan was going to start squirming trying to loosen them, when the door flew open. Kali stood in the doorway, once again only her red glowing eyes showing from underneath her hooded cloak. She stepped forward into the cell, causing the two guards to snap to attention. She motioned for them to bring Brennan to her and they obeyed without question. They roughly grabbed Brennan by the arms and dragged him in front of Kali. He knelt down and waited for her to speak first. Kali paced around him before, “I bet your wondering why you’re here.” “No never,” Brennan replied sarcastically, in result getting back handed by one of the henchmen. Brennan lifted his head up and spit out a mouth full of blood, Kali just smiled. “You know you’re the last piece of the puzzle.” Brennan didn’t reply not wanting to get punch again, but allowed her to continue. “An electrical elemental, the last part for the end of the world.” “What are you the Devil?” Brennan blurted out. Kali laughed, “ya right, he can’t rot in heaven for all I care.” “I take it you were his bitch,” Brennan replied once again getting punched across the face. Kali bent down and grabbed a hold of Brennan’s chin making him look at her red eyes. “You got quite a mouth on you don’t you?” Brennan was just about to come back with another smart-ass comment when, one of the henchmen drew out his sword and held it against Brennan’s throat silencing him immediately. Kali waved her hand and the henchmen slowly let down his sword. “I know your dying to ask me a question, so go ahead ask away,” Kali told him crossing her arms over her chest waiting for the question. Brennan cleared his throat, “why am I here?” “You’re fulfilling my quest for world domination,” she replied simply. “Oh great,” Brennan rolled his eyes. “But why an electrical elemental?” “Well it’s the last Mutant power.” “Last Mutant power?” Brennan was getting confused. “Yes, I’ve been collecting Mutants over the past months enabling me to take their powers.” Kali explained. “Oh great a real psychopath,” Brennan mumbled lowly. One of the henchmen punched him across the chin, Brennan looked up at him after wiggling his jaw around “you’re really starting to enjoy that aren’t you?” It growled and raised his fist to hit him again, but Kali motioned for him to stop with the raising of her own hand. “Enough!” She ordered. “Chain him up, so I can begin the transfer.” The two henchmen bent down and picked Brennan up by the elbows and dragged him over to the far wall. They bonded him tightly, with his arms over his head. Kali walked up to Brennan her eyes a blood red; she stuck out one of her long red fingernails. She slowly cut down the front of Brennan’s shirt exposing his chest. Kali placed the palm of her hand on the center Brennan’s sternum. She sighed deeply; Brennan looked down at her hand. A red glow began forming around her hand and his heart started beating faster. He felt a strange form of energy enter his body. At first it was heat, but as it spread further it quickly turned to pain. Brennan screamed out feeling a sharp pain in his chest as it all focused its self in that one spot underneath Kali’s palm. Kali also screamed, as a bolt of signal energy entered her body quickly. She let down her hand and stumbled backwards into the arms of the two guards behind her. Brennan breaths were getting husky and he felt his body weaken. His heart was still racing a mile a minute and he was having trouble focusing in front of him. “Keep him chained to the wall, I’ll be back later.” She huffed and turned around, and slowly walked towards the door. “You two can have some fun until I return,” she smiled leaving them alone.

Shalimar was up early training like usual; she was in the middle of a simulation when she heard footsteps enter. She stopped her workout and turned around to find Damon standing in the doorway. “Hey Brennan,” she smiled. “Hi Shalimar.” Damon replied stepping up closer to her. “Would like to spar against me?” She asked excitedly. Damon grinned, “I’d love to.” He stepped forward getting closer to Shalimar, he stood in a defensive stance and waited. Shalimar smiled, “alright no powers.” “Fine with me,” Damon grinned. Shalimar didn’t waste anytime and quickly attacked him, throwing several punches and kicks at him. Damon easily dogged them, returning a couple of punches to her, only one connecting. Shalimar stumbling backward a little shocked that he actually made contact. She huffed and charged at him. Damon dogged her; taking her upper arm he quickly flipped her on her back. He stood over her smiling, “not bad.” “Lucky shot,” Shalimar grumbled, slowly standing up. “Lets go again.” “That’s fine,” Damon gave a broad smile. Shalimar attacked again, the fight lasted longer this time. In the end Shalimar landed flat on her back. “What the hell?” Shalimar grumbled. “Have you been practicing?” Damon had to admit the mortal lasted longer than others. He offered his hand for her to take, which she did willingly. “Maybe a little,” he smiled. She smiled only a few inches away from him; the two just stared at each other. Shalimar slowly leaned in to give him a kiss, they touched for only a second but Damon pulled away immediately. “Sorry I can’t,” with that he turned and walked away, leaving Shalimar by her self and a little hurt.

Everyone gathered in the lab, when Adam called a meet that afternoon. “Ok, where going to place three new Mutants in a safe house in couple of hours. Now they contacted us willingly so, make sure your extra carefully incase they’re not really who they say they are.” He explained. “Aren’t we usually,” Shalimar smiled. “That’s what I’m afraid of,” Adam chuckled. “What kind of Mutants are they?” Emma finally asked the important question. Adam turned around to his computer and brought up three picture, two boys and one girl. “Josh Paxton, he’s a fire elemental,” he replied bring up his picture first. Adam saw Shalimar shutter at the word ‘fire’, “its ok Shal I explained to him about you and he’s willing not to use his powers around you.” “Good,” Shalimar sighed in relief. “Troy Smith, he’s a propulsion molecular making him increase his own speed.” “That should be fun,” Jesse grinned. Adam smiled and continued bring up the last picture. “Leigh Charles, an intangibility and imperviousness molecular.” “Cool she’s like me,” Jesse smiled uncontrollable. Emma raised an eyebrow at him, “down boy, didn’t you read her bio when it came up she’s only nineteen like the boys.” “So,” Jesse shrugged his shoulders causing Emma to roll her eyes at him. “Ok, you are going to me them here in a half an hour, then put them in safe house four,” Adam brought up the location on the computer. “Lets go then,” Shalimar, said standing up ready to go. “Good luck,” Adam said as the four left his lab and headed to the Helix. They all filed in and sat in their designated spots, and made a rather quiet ride to their destination. Shalimar looked over at Brennan once or twice, he was rather quiet the whole ride, but then again so was everyone else. Jesse landed the Helix in an unpopulated area Shalimar and Damon exited the Helix, to retrieve the three Mutants. Shalimar entered the coffee shop and immediately spotted the three sitting at a table. She motioned for Damon to fallow her. Josh looked up see two people heading in their direction, he knew they were there for them and gave a smile when Shalimar approached. “Are you ready?” Shalimar asked. “Yup,” Josh answered standing up from his chair, the other two fallowed. “Good lets go,” Shalimar grinned and led them out of the coffee shop and to the Helix. “Whoa,” Troy’s eyes widened when he saw the Helix. “You can say that again,” Leigh looked at the aircraft, completely amazed. They boarded and Jesse flew them to safe house four, landing on top of the building. The four members of Mutant X walked them into the safe house and began showing them around. Damon backed off and just let the others do the talking; it was not until Josh came up to him when he finally spoke. “So what’s your ability,” Josh asked. Brennan leaned up against the doorframe, “does it matter.” He replied smugly. “Ahh... I guess not,” Josh sighed. “Good…” Damon said with a sarcastic tone. Josh turned around and walked away, Damon gritted his teeth at him not knowing Shalimar was watching him intensely across the room. Shalimar and Damon were the last ones to leave the safe house after giving Leigh, Troy, and Josh their new identities and just making sure they were settled in. Shalimar slumped down in her chair inside the Helix and sighed. Damon sat down as Jesse and Emma turned around in there seats.

“Ready to go?” Jesse asked. “Yes!” Shalimar and Damon replied at once. Jesse spun around and flipped some switches causing the Helix to shuttered and lift off heading back to Sanctuary. After a few minutes into the air, Shalimar slowly glanced at the man she knew as Brennan but something was different. She took a long look at him; he had acted very strangely at the safe house, his behavior and attitude towards the mutants they were helping. Yet other than that he was the same old Brennan his scent, appearance, and sometimes his uncontrollable powers. The Helix landed, but thoughts and situations were still running through Shalimar’s head as she walked out of the Helix. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first. She remembered only a few things that weren’t right, but yet again it was Brennan there was nothing for her to get worked up on. Yes he was acting weird around her, and yes he beat her twice sparring but she was having a bad day so it didn’t count. Shalimar headed to her room quietly to get some sleep before her nocturnal instincts woke her up as the rest of the team slowly started to separate into different rooms. Damon could sense Shalimar’s uncertainty the whole ride back to Sanctuary. He knew what he had to do about it; Kali had him on a strict schedule and orders so he had to wait. He smiled to himself, knowing what time it was and headed to the lab. Adam sat at his computer working, but turned around when Damon entered. “Hey Brennan,” Adam smiled. “How did everything go?” “Great, their staying in the safe house until tomorrow,” Damon answered. “Good, so what’s up?” Adam asked knowing the elemental was there for a reason. Damon stuffed his hands in his pockets, “I’m gonna go out for awhile, ok?” “Sure, is anyone going with you?” He questioned. “Nope just me, I just need some time to think.” Damon replied with a smile. “Ok, have a good time.” Adam said before turning around in his chair back to his work. Damon walked out of the lab and walked to the garage; he grabbed the keys to the mustang and drove off towards the city. He parked in front of a bar, and stepped out he took one glance at the door and started walking towards an alleyway. Damon moved deep into the shadows before placing his hands together, and slowly separating them creating a portal in front of him. He slowly stepped into it, sending him to begin his mission.

Troy and Josh sat on the couch waiting for Leigh to come back from the kitchen with some sodas. “Dude what’s taking you so long?” Troy yelled. “I’m coming, I’m coming,” she said walking out with some cokes in her hand. “Took you long enough,” Josh replied taking one from her hands. “Ya ya ya,” Leigh smiled giving the third one to Josh before opening up her own. The three sat down on the couch and began a movie when the lights started to flicker, the TV shutting off and on then began changing channels it self. “What the hell?” Josh said standing up from the couch. The lights dimmed down very low flickering every second, Troy and Leigh stood up noticing a red glowing circle appear across the room. The red glow increased in size, the three new mutants stood in horror as a dark figure dressed in a long black cloak with a huge hood covering its face walked through the red glow. “Who the hell are you?” Troy mumbled nervously. The dark figure took a few steps closer to the mutants, its arms firmly crossed and head looking downwards. “I asked you a question!” Troy sternly told the figure creeping closer and closer to them. It stopped a few feet away raising it head slowly allowing the mutants to see it glowing orange eyes. “I am the Taker,” a males voice answer. “The Taker?” Leigh questioned almost laughing. “Yes I am the Taker,” he said once again, “I have come for you.” “Come for us?” Josh gave a small smirk. “I don’t know who you think you are buddy, but you’re not taking anyone.” Josh quickly created a small fireball in the palm of his hand waiting for this weirdo to make his move. Eyes still glowing, “that’s where you are wrong.” The Taker uncrossed his arms and slowly reached behind his back drawing out his sword from its sheath strapped to his back underneath his cloak. The three’s eyes widened and quickly glanced at each other, wondering what he was doing. The Taker twirled his sword effortlessly around, just showing off a little. Josh had enough and finally through his ball of fire straight at the cloaked man. The Taker took it right in the chest never stumbling backwards or moving a muscle, he stood like a brick wall. He took in a deep breath stretching his arms out allowing the power seep into his body. Josh looked at Leigh who snapped her attention over to him, Josh throw several rounds of fire at the Taker trying to take him down. He seemed to absorb everything he that was thrown at him. “What the hell are you?” Troy demanded getting a little worried. The figures eyes still glowed orange, and he moved closer not saying a single word to any of them. The three started to back away noticing the Takers sword draw up in front of him. “So who is first?” The Taker asked with a low evil chuckle. Before any could answer the Taker made on swift movement of his sword coming right across Troy’s neck. A bloody ring quickly formed right where his neck attached his shoulders, Leigh and Josh pushed into each other in horror as they saw their friend’s body crumble to his knees and to his side. Leigh screamed seeing Troy’s head slowly slid off of his body and roll to the feet of the Taker. Josh began to swear uncontrollably grabbing Leigh’s hand pulling her quickly away. The Taker bent down and took a hold of Troy’s head, letting the blood ooze down his arm tossing it in the air a couple of times smiling at his work. He took a step forward looking down at the blood seeping out of Troy’s body making a large pool of blood. The Taker dropped the head down beside the body and quickly set off after the two others. He could feel their fear flowing through out the safe house as he hunted them down. Leigh and Josh ran through the rooms trying to find the stairs to the door so they could escape. Josh quickly ran up the stairs first and across the catwalk, to get to the door, he pulled on the door but it was locked he tried to unlock it but it wouldn’t open. “Come on!” Josh grabbed Leigh again and bolted down the stairs and into another room just as the Taker quietly walked through the doorway trapping them in the room. “SHIT!” Josh yelled out noticing they were trapped. He stepped out in front of Leigh to protect her even knowing there was no way they could get out alive. The Taker looked up at them, his sword dripping blood on the floor as he walked closer to them. Leigh started to sob quietly behind Josh, as the Taker came towards his next victims. “Alright I’m tried of this man, leave us the f**k alone!” Josh screamed at him. The Taker didn’t say anything he just kept moving closer every so slightly. Josh knew what he had to do, he quickly rammed into the Taker with his shoulder when he was close enough, giving them just enough time to try and make a run for it. “LEIGH RUN!” Josh screamed before taking off after her as the Taker slowly stood up, a little shocked that at what the boy did. Leigh was about to mass, maybe getting a chance to smash through the wall but she stumbled over something when she looked behind her to see if Josh was there. She sat up and scrambled backwards she gave another high-pitched scream when she noticed blood soaking her clothes and Troy’s body in right in front of her feet. Josh picked her up, trying to get her to move before the Taker found them. “Going somewhere?” A voice asked a few feet in front of them. The two whipped around starring right at their attacker. Josh tired to knock the Taker down again, but it wasn’t going to get by him a second time. Leigh screamed once again watching as the point of the sword slid through Josh’s stomach. Josh made some loud gurgling noise, before the Taker withdrew his sword leaving Josh to fall face down and die in his own pool of blood. The Taker stepped over Josh’s fallen body and made his way to his last victim. Leigh was frozen, she couldn’t move even though her mind told her to over and over again. The Taker swung his sword over his head spinning around making his cloak flap around him, as he sliced Leigh across her stomach. Leigh stood in shock right before her upper separated from her lower and crumbled down to the floor. Slightly trembling from the shock, Leigh slowly died. The Taker walked up next to her upper half, stepping over the blood exiting her body at an amazing rate. He lifted up his sword and brought it right down on the base of her neck taking off her head in one fluid movement. Smiling he went over to Josh’s body which was still twitching, he then again brought down his sword taking is head off as well. He stood over Josh’s body lifting up his sword with both hands chanting softly, then thrusting it down quickly it Josh’s heart. A blue tinted glow slowly appeared around Josh’s body, before slowly retreating into the Takers sword. The Taker withdrew his sword and went onto the next to bodies doing the same to each before making his way back over to Josh’s body. The Taker bought his sword down again on Josh’s wrist taking off his hand. He bent down and grasped the dead hand in his own. He brought up the hand to his mouth, and bit down on one of Josh’s fingers ripping a piece off with his sharp teeth. He chewed slowly savoring the taste of mortal flesh. The Taker smiled with pride underneath his hood, and continued tarring at the fingers before finishing the fingers he wanted then moved onto his next victim’s hand. The Taker finished up his work and created a portal in front of him and walked through.

The Hunter materialized suddenly in an alley; he looked down at his hands seeing himself in human form. He knew that the end was beginning and it was only going to get worse. He closed his eyes focusing in on the Taker before taking off running, already beginning his long hunt.
* * *
Damon walked out of the alley next to the bar went over to his car and drove back to Sanctuary. It was around two in the morning when he pulled the car into its spot in the garage. Everything was dark and he slowly made his way towards his temporary room. He entered and as soon as the door closed behind him, Shalimar emerged from the shadows at the end of the hall. Shalimar’s arms were crossed and she quickly turned around heading to the lab. She found Adam asleep at one of the computers; she snuck up behind him bending down close to his ear she smiled, “Adam!” Adam jumped up from his sleep, “What? I’m up!” He looked around franticly, when seeing Shalimar’s smiling face he calmed down. “Shal you scared me.” “Sorry,” she grinned, but her grin soon changed to a frown. “What’s wrong?” Adam asked as Shalimar jumped up on the table be side him. “It’s Brennan, I think something’s wrong with him,” she sighed. Adam spun around to face her, “why do you think that?” “I don’t know it’s just a gut feeling, he been acting weird lately,” she explained. “How so?” Adam asked. “Well the fact that he beat me twice in a sparring match, started it all because he never beats me unless I let him, but I was going all out on him. Then yesterday when we set up Leigh, Troy, and Josh in the safe house, he was acting like a total ass, well more than usual but still.” Shalimar explained. Adam thought for a minute, “Shal you could have had a bad day sparring, and Brennan is well Brennan he always his like that.” “True but I still think something’s up,” Shalimar huffed. “Just let it go Shal, it’s nothing to get work up on,” Adam smiled. Shalimar finally smiled back, “I guess your right.” She jumped down from the table; “well I think I’ll go try to get another cat nap in before sunrise.” Adam watched her walk away, “hey Shal?” She turned around at the door. “Don’t worry about it.” She smiled and left the lab so Adam could sleep. Shalimar thought about what Adam said as she made it to her room. “I’m just too paranoid,” she mumbled flopping down on her bed to get a little sleep.

The four members of Mutant X boarded the Helix before the crack of dawn, heading to meet up with the three new mutants about to be placed in the underground. Shalimar slouched down in her seat, trying to keep her eyes open. “Why did we have to go so damn early?” She questioned. “Who knows,” Emma replied rolling her eyes even at her own comment. “He needs to stop doing that,” Jesse complained. Damon didn’t know what their problem was; he had been up for hours before they had to leave. He kept his focus straight forward not making any eye contact with the other three, personally he was getting sick and tried up here. Damon wanted to get his mission over with, so he could return home. Shalimar sighed and glanced over at Damon, he had not said a word all morning not even hello. Something wasn’t right with him but she couldn’t place a finger on it. Damon could feel someone staring at him, he could sense her dismay about his overall behavior the past couple of days and honestly he really could care less about what she was starting to think. All he wanted to do was finish his mission. Jesse landed the Helix in an unpopulated area close to the warehouse. Shalimar was the first one out of the jet and slowly making her way to the warehouse. The sun was starting to rise but it was still very dark out. Damon followed the feral to the front door of the warehouse; she opened the door and walk straight to the following one where she quickly pushed a six digit number allowing them all into the inner part of the warehouse. It was extremely dark; Shalimar eyes went feral so she could see where she was going. The others stopped, waiting for her to find the light switch so they could all see. Shalimar quickly walked over to the switch and flipped it on. Nothing happened. The rooms remained dark; she continued flipping it on and off trying to get them to work. “What the hell?” Shalimar grumbled, not enjoying this morning. “Shal?” Jesse’s voice rang out as his eyes began adjusting to the darkness. “The lights won’t turn on,” Shalimar explained from her spot a few feet away from the group. She kept flipping the switch up and down, up and down. Shalimar suddenly was startled by a tight grip on her shoulder. Shalimar world around facing Damon, he heart was pounding inside her chest. She never once heard his shoes clanging on the metal catwalk under them as he moved over to her. Damon couldn’t help but hide a small smile from Shalimar, when he felt a strong amount of fear quickly release when he touched her shoulder. He motioned her aside without saying a word and created a small amount of electricity in his fingertips. Damon let it flow out from his fingers and into the circuit; the light flickered several times before they turned on. They weren’t bright but they gave enough light for them to see where they were going. The four slowly made it to the metal stairs leading down to the bottom floor. Shalimar was half way down the stairs when her nose was suddenly filled with the smell of dried blood. She stopped dead in her tracks close to the bottom have the other practically run into her. Emma stuck her head out around the two men in front of her, “Shal what wrong?” Shalimar’s eyes flashed gold for a brief second, “something not right.” “What is it?” Emma asked. Shalimar didn’t answer, she just continued down the stairs. Damon smiled his eyes glowed orange for a second, knowing exactly what the feral smelt. “Shal what is it?” Emma asked again when reaching the end of the stairs. “I smell blood,” she replied taking another sniff. Jesse shrugged at her, “maybe one of them cut themselves.” “To strong of smell to be just a cut,” Shalimar told them before she began yelling to the new mutants. “LEIGH??!!......JOSH?!!......TROY??!!” They all wait for a minute but no one answered. “Maybe they’re a sleep,” Jesse suggested. “They would have woken up by that,” Emma stated rubbing her ear from Shalimar’s yelling. Shalimar eyes narrowed giving Emma an evil smirk, before taking a glance around the room. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary but Shalimar could help shake the bad feeling. Emma tried to reach out and link with one of them, but all she found was fog. “I can’t find them,” she blurted out. “What?” Shalimar was a little surprised, she thought for a second. “All right lets split up and look for them.” “Jesse and I will look in the bedrooms,” Emma offered. “Ok, Brennan and I will check the kitchen and living room,” Shalimar added. The team split up and headed out in search for the missing mutants. Shalimar and Demon entered the kitchen area, the smell of blood got stronger. They moved threw the open door frame and into the living room, both stopped dead in their tracks. Shalimar couldn’t help but let out a high-pitched scream, sending Jesse and Emma running to their location. Emma and Jesse ran in to the living room, and found Shalimar over throwing up in a trashcan in the corner. They moved closer to Damon who was just staring at the floor a few feet in front of him. Emma quickly placed her hand over her mouth to keep from throwing up from the site in front of them. Pools of blood stained the floor around the three young bodies, their head severed off maximizing the most blood loss. Jesse closed his eyes for a moment as he scanned the bodies, only imagining how they each died. Shalimar finished throwing up from the gruesome and walked up to the group again, she glanced at Emma who was being to cry. Emma could take it any more and quickly rushed over to the trashcan to throw up. Shalimar shuttered seeing Leigh’s body sliced in half, “who hell could do such a thing?” Emma returned to the group standing next to Jesse, and slowly answered the question, “someone very evil.” She couldn’t help but notice the small smirk crossing Damon’s face when she said evil. Something wasn’t right with him; she was now determined to find out when everything settled down. Damon felt Emma’s dismay of him, without question he knew his second mission. He glanced behind him, finding Jesse step forward closer to the bodies. “Look up there,” Jesse pointed overhead to one of the catwalks crossing over the room. Shalimar and Emma gasped seeing the three bloody head’s dangling from the railing. “Oh my god,” Shalimar whispered. Jesse moved his ring up to his finger, “Adam we have a problem,” he spoke slowly and calmly.

“What’s wrong?” Adam’s voice replied. “They’re all dead,” Jesse replied. “What?!” Adam snapped didn’t know how else to react to Jesse’s statement. Jesse ran his hand through his hair and sighed. “We found them dead.” “What?! How?!” Adam still didn’t comprehend what Jesse was trying to say. “Leigh, Josh, and Troy are dead,” he repeated. “How?” Adam questioned. “We don’t know but there is blood everywhere and their heads well…” Jesse paused, “they were decapitated.” Adam didn’t answer for a few seconds, “ah…. Jess, bring the bodies back to Sanctuary.” “You want what?” Jesse was now the one confused. “I want you guys to bring the bodies back so I can try to find out how what killed them,” Adam explained. “Ok we will,” Jesse huffed before turning off his ring killing his conversation with Adam. He turned around to face the others; “he wants us to bring the bodies back for him.” Shalimar and Emma’s eyes widened, “you’re joking right?” Shalimar asked sarcastically. “No, he wants them back at Sanctuary so he can examine them or something like that,” Jesse told them. Shalimar rolled her eyes, not impressed that they had to carry the bodies back to the Helix. Jesse noticed Shalimar’s reaction, “I’ll go get their, well…” he didn’t want to finish his sentence he just pointed to the heads above. “Ok we’ll start with their bodies,” Emma answered, regretting the job. Jesse headed off stepping over one of the bodies to get to the stairs leading up to the catwalk. While Jesse was gathering up the heads hanging from the catwalk railing, the other three made their way to the bodies. Emma and Shalimar’s stomachs started to turn, seeing the large amount of gore in front of them. They moved up closer to the bodies getting a better look at the bodies. Shalimar slowly ran her eyes over the first body, which happened to be Leigh’s. She was slit in half at the waist, placing her guts all over the floor between the two halves. Shalimar had to glance away; even for her the blood was too much. After a few seconds she finally brought her eyes back on the young girl. Quickly she scanned Leigh’s pieces; she came to a stop when she reached her upper half. “Look,” Shalimar knelt down in a crouching position. Emma and Devon made there way over to her. “What is it?” Emma asked as she came closer. Shalimar turned around and pointed down towards the girl’s chest. Leigh’s hand was taken off at the wrist and place on her stomach. Her fingers were chewed off, but only one was still intact. Just the middle finger. It was pointing straight to her heart, “That’s gross and slightly ironic.” Emma announced. Shalimar looked over at the other bodies from where she was crouching, “look like it was done to the others two.” She went back to looking at the hand then slowly picked it up for a closer look, “it looks like they were all severed off or something, but I don’t know what.” Devon gave a slight laugh and finally spoke after not saying a word since they left Sanctuary, “maybe they were eaten.” The two girls whipped around and gave him a dirty look. “Hey it could happen,” he shrugged. ‘If they only knew,’ he told himself admiring his work. Emma gave him a dirty yet suspicious look, where Devon diffidently noticed. He really didn’t care what the Psionic thought. Devon could only wait until he was able to show them all what he was, and only then would they know how much trouble they were getting themselves into. “Ah guys….” Jesse’s voice rang from above where he had finished taking down the three heads. “What?” Emma huffed. Jesse pointed to the wall over the door leading into the room, there in blood stilling dripping from the letters was a message, "the end is near be ready for an eternity of servitude". Shalimar growled not like being threatened, “now what the hell does that mean?!” “Well it could mean two things,” Jesse said from above, “that it’s a very sick joke, or we are in some serious trouble.” “Well maybe there’s something on the security cameras,” Shalimar suggested. Emma crossed her arms, “I’ll go check,” and with that she was off. “I can’t believe someone could do this, what kind of psycho was this guy?” Shalimar basically told herself, as she began moving one of the bodies closer to the door. Damon smiled to himself with his back towards Shalimar, “you have no idea.” He mumbled lowly to himself. “Did you say something?” Shalimar stood up straight and looked at him. Damon looked over at her, “I didn’t say anything.” “I swore I heard something,” Shalimar just gave him a look, as he went back down to the body. Damon had to fight the urge from eating the rest of Troy’s fingers on his hands. It was something he desperately needed. The taste of moral blood and flesh, still lingered in his mouth. He was tempted to just bend down and rip it off, but the sound of Jesse thumping down the stairs stopped him. Jesse came from the stairs holding the three heads in his arms, as he walked towards the others. He didn’t say a word, but just began helping Damon and Shalimar gather the three bodies near the door. Emma soon entered waving a computer chip in her hand, “got it!” “Alright lets get out of here, this place is giving me the creeps,” Shalimar announced slowly picking up Leigh’s to halves, sending the sick feeling back in her stomach once again. “Here Em take these,” Jesse said holding out the young mutants heads to her. “Hell no I’m not taking them,” Emma was getting bad vibes just by being in the room, she could only imagine what she would get if she touched one. “Ok then I’ll take these and you can get Josh’s body,” Jesse told her, her face going slightly pale. Emma slowly put her hands to take the heads from Jesse; the immediate contact sent unbearable emotions of fear spread threw her. Jesse defiantly noticed the change in her, “Em you ok?” He placed a reassuring hand on her arm. She took several deep breaths, then looked up into his eyes “I’m fine, Jess.” “All right,” he lingered beside her for a second and then turned around to pick up Josh’s body. The group made their way out of the safe house and into the shadows to the Helix. Everyone was unaware of the set of eyes watching him or her intensely from across the street. The Hunter was leaning up against a wall, scanning the group for his target. He smiled to himself, “there’s nowhere to run Taker...” He turned around once they were out of sight and disappeared into the alleyway next to him.

Brennan hadn’t slept for over twenty-four hours, every time he tried the henchmen thought of it as a good time to beat him. His hands where now chained over his head and his shirt was torn off making it easier for them to torture, and it harder for him to struggle against them. The fact that Kali was beginning to take his mutant abilities, it was making him weaker like his body was starting to shut down. “You guys hit like girls,” Brennan said with a smirk as he spit out some blood. He suddenly realized it wasn’t time for smart-ass comments when the two guards snarled revealing half decayed teeth and began to creep closer. Brennan tightened his body preparing to take in the pain head on. It was to no surprise when they started taking turned punching him in the stomach. The pain was unbearable no matter how much he tried to concentrate on something else. The one Brennan for the last couple of had called not a very nice person was about to drive his fist when the metal door flung open, causing him to stop. He looked behind him at the figure in the door and quickly backed away bowing his head. Kali moved from the door and towards Brennan. Brennan kept his head down, not making eye contact with the woman standing in front of him, with her hooded cloak draped far over her head. “I see my warriors have taught you some manners,” Kali crossed her arms and gave a slight smirk. Brennan growled lifting his head spitting blood out into the dark shadow of her face. The two warriors took a step forward, but Kali put up her hand signaling for them to stop. She took her other hand and wiped the blood spatter on her face and held her fingers out in front of her, “not enough I see.” Kali brought her fingers back inside the darkness cast around her face and slowly licked the blood off. “Hmm…mutant blood it’s so sweet compared to others.” Brennan was somewhat disgusted. “You have a question, so ask away,” Kali told him finishing licking her fingers. Before he asked she took a couple of steps backwards and snapped her fingers, suddenly revealing a tall scary looking chair behind her. She sat down crossing her legs showing some thigh above her knee-high boots. Kali tapped her fingernails at the end of the armrest, “I’m waiting,” she growled getting impatient. “There are other Electrical Elementals out there, why me?” Brennan snapped. Kali stopped tapping her nails, “I need some information from you.” “Figures,” Brennan mumbled, the guards moved up to him, Brennan rolled his eyes noticing these guys never gave up. They each beat him several times, while Kali watched in delight, when they were done Brennan shock his head trying to make the pain disappear. He looked up and growled, “Is that all you got?”

Kali threw up her hand stopping her warriors before they even moved. “You’re very persistent Brennan I’ll give you that.” Brennan glared at her, not noticing his body finally started to show the bruises from the constant beatings. “Moving on,” Kali huffed. “I need to know where Adam keeps his Mutant database.” “Like I’m going to tell you,” Brennan replied. “Then I’ll have to find a way to persuade you,” Kali smirked underneath her cloak, and snapped her fingers once again and her two warriors headed over to Brennan’s direction. The two moved as one, each either kicking or punching Brennan in the stomach. Kali watched intensely, her elbows placed on the armrest and her fingers laced together underneath her chin. Brennan was beginning to have a hard time breathing and wasn’t sure how much longer he would be able to stay conscious. His eyes where closed not giving in no matter how much it hurt, just wait for each hit but then they stopped. Brennan slowly looked up at Kali. She once again was tapping her nails, becoming very impatient. “Now this could go one for ever Brennan just tell me what I need to know and they’ll stop.” “Never,” Brennan gave a small grunt. Kali stood up and the chair disappeared. “That’s fine, Demon reassured me that he is getting very close to your friends and that one of them will slip telling him everything,” Kali turned around and started walking away. “Maybe… Shalimar...” She stopped knowing she hit a button close to his heart. The pain in Brennan’s body suddenly changed to anger, “if he even looks at her the wrong way I’ll kill him.” Kali turned around her hands on her hips, “I see I hit a touchy spot, huh?” Brennan just growled giving his chains a good tug, as his anger overpowered his pain. She moved closer to him, easily telling a story anyone would believe, “Yes Demon came to me the other day with a report. It seems that your friends don’t even know you’re gone,” Kali chuckled. “Well technically you’re not gone, but still they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.” Brennan lunged towards here, “don’t you dare!” “Oh but I do, because Demon tells me that he’s getting very close to your friends and soon will have everything I need,” Kali smiled. “I swear to god I will kill you and Demon with my bare hands,” Brennan growled. Kali could feel Brennan’s energy flowing through him quicker; making her want to take another dose of it but it was too soon, she turned her attention back to getting her information. “Well I hate to break it to you… but god’s not going to be very helpful right now, I’m the only one that can make it all go away.” Brennan didn’t reply he just gave her an evil glare testing her to make her next comment or deal. “Come on Brennan, don’t make me suck it out of you,” she grinned not minding if he suffered more. Kali paced in front of him for a second, “fine, I’m going to show you something’s that might convince you other wise.” Kali gave an evil grin before bombarding Brennan with false images. She knew his weakness for the feral would break him down. She closed her eyes send him images of the future. Brennan noticed the fire and molten lava, flowing threw and burning in the caves. The images became faster moving through several tunnels and into one large cave. It zoomed up on one image; Brennan recognized the blonde hair immediately. He watched one of Kali minions stalk over to Shalimar as she swung a large pickaxe at the stone cave, chipping away at the wall. The large beast grabbed her by the throat making her drop her tool, her feet kicking below her. Brennan tried to go to her, but he couldn’t move just watch. Shalimar’s clothes were torn in several places; her skin was cover in a mix of blood and dirt. The warrior threw her against the wall making her crumble down onto her hands and knees. He growled putting all his power on a kick towards her stomach. Brennan heard Shalimar’s screams, he wanted to stop him but her couldn’t and it broke his heart. He suddenly heard yelling from other dark figures, the images changed to surrounding captives. He noticed Jesse struggling to get to Shalimar, getting taken down in the process. Emma tired to break free from the grasp of her handlers along with Adam but they were severally beaten down as they all watched Shalimar get her ass handed to her and without her powers she was still strong but not enough. Kali broke the connection and Brennan was pissed off. He thought he was going to explode, electricity coursed through his body. “I see you don’t like your friends’ future as my slaves or maybe warriors if they behave correctly,” Kali smirked. Brennan gave a low meaningful growl. Kali voice changed a little more girly, “aww did I hit another little button. How about this one?” She quickly sent him some more images. It was of a dark room, Brennan could hear moaning then several images of something or someone tossing and turning in a bed. The images became closer; more vivid Brennan realized where he was…Shalimar’s room. He saw himself and Shalimar in bed, “and this is a bad thing?” He thought to himself feeling the passion and love from the pictures. Kali smiled and broke the flood of images; she gave a smirk “you enjoyed that did you not?” Brennan didn’t answer, “well Demon is a great guy in bed,” Kali added knowing Brennan would go off the top. Brennan’s hand where still chained over his head, but they were in a tight formed ball as his temper started to get out of control. “You’re all DEAD!” Kali didn’t reply she just disappeared, Brennan through his weight against the chains holding him, “GET BACK HERE!” He yelled into the dark of the cell, still struggling at his bonds.
* * *
When the team returned to Sanctuary and Adam kicked them out of the lab almost immediately, not that anyone minded. Jesse and Emma went off to analysis the security disc from the safe house. Shalimar thought it would be a good time to talk to Brennan. He had been avoiding her for a couple of day’s now, and Shalimar was beginning to wonder if it had to do with something with the night they went clubbing. Standing outside Brennan’s door Shalimar took a deep breath, slowly raised her right hand and lightly rapped on the door. A moment or two passed before she heard Brennan’s familiar voice, albeit muffled, say, “come in.” Inhaling deeply one last time she turned the knob and pushed the door open. Damon had just returned from his meeting with Kali, but he knew she was on her way to his long before she knocked. He had sensed her presence from the moment she entered the hallway and began her walk to his door. Saying he was getting frustrated with these annoying mortals would be putting it mildly. This was why when he arrived back in the room he contacted his mistress and voiced his fears that the mortals were beginning to suspect-especially the feral and psionic.
* * *
Damon had gone to his room once Adam kicked them all out of the lab. He locked the door behind him and moved more towards the middle; Damon took in a deep breath. He quickly made a large portal in front of him. He stepped through reappearing in Kali’s dark office. Damon waited patiently for Kali to arrive. She soon showed up sitting cross-legged in her tall steel chair. “The feral and psionic are becoming very suspicious my lady,” he bowed down quickly before standing back up. “Yes I know,” Kali sighed and began tapping her long sharp fingernails against the metal. “What would you like me do?” “Calm the ferals fears and for this I will give the memories of the one you impersonate, one of them should serve you a purpose,” his mind was filled suddenly of meaningless thoughts and memories of her. Damon could see flashes of places, things and people, including Mutant X, and the many encounters between him and Shalimar. However the one, which piqued his interest, the most was an incident that took place not too long ago. Focusing in on that one memory, Damon smiled as he realized he had the solution to his feral problem. “Remember Damon do whatever is necessary. I have chosen to give you specific memories of her, because he becomes most angered when I show him things concerning her,” Kali grinned and stood from her chair. “What about the psionic? I think she’s starting to sense something,” Damon explained. Kali paced around for a second, “we’ll take care of her later, for right now we need to get rid of the ferals suspicions.” “I shall not fail,” Damon bowed down again. “You had better not!” With that they both disappeared, one into a portal back to the mortal world, the other into darkness back to destroy a mortal soul.

Devon calmly watched Shalimar enter the room and shut the door behind her. He could not only sense her uneasiness he could see it as well. ‘Pathetic mortal emotions’ he thought to himself as she sat down on the bed next to him. “Look I just wanted to come and see if there was any reason why you have been avoiding me,” she quickly spat out. “I mean did I do or say something?” Drawing on the memories Kali had bestowed upon him he contemplated his answer as he knew the real Brennan would, “Look Shal, it’s just… seeing those kids like that has just got me a little rattled that this maniac could come after one of us or… you,” As soon as he saw her blush and smile he knew he had her convinced.
* * *
Brennan struggled against his bonds as he was forced to watch the scene before him. “Damon can be very convincing when he wants to be,” Kali smirked stepping out of the shadows and closer to Brennan. Brennan simply let out a low growl “Shall we see what happens next?” Kali asked thoroughly enjoying the pained expression on the young man’s face
* * *
“I know you can take care of yourself. I’ve have just been on edge lately since my powers mutated and am a little worn out from the other night,” Damon replied finding images of Brennan and Shalimar’s club experience. “Yeah I know what you mean. I was so scared for you throughout that whole ordeal. I kept thinking ‘what if he doesn’t make it?’” Shalimar quickly avoided eye contact with him and looked down at her hands. Taking one of her hands in his he replied, “I’m still here though right?” “Yeah and I am really glad you are” she replied giving him a hug.
* * *
“YOU BITCH!” Brennan screamed out lunging out at her. “Oh come now Brennan you can’t tell me this isn’t what you have always wanted?” Kali smiled with delight seeing the effects of the images take a toll on the mortal. “If he does anything to her,” fumed Brennan while he futilely struggled against the chains Kali held her tongue not feeling the need to respond to the mortal’s empty threat. Instead she connected with Damon and congratulated him on his handy work, letting him sense Brennan’s anger and frustration.
* * *
Hearing Kali’s words of praise and sensing Brennan’s anger he decided to take things one-step further. Smirking he let his eyes glow a deep shade of orange as he quietly chanted an old spell he learned from an immortal sorcerer. He was pleased when he felt Shalimar begin to relax in his arms. At first Shalimar was a little shocked to feel Brennan tighten his grip on her but enjoyed it none the less. Suddenly she began to feel light headed as her vision blurred and her body became heavy. She could hear a strange voice playing over and over in her head and she found it very hard to resist what it was telling her.
* * *
Seeing Shalimar become almost drunk in Damon’s arms enraged Brennan. “What the hell is he doing to her?! I warn you if he hurts her in anyway…” “Empty threats Brennan. Empty threats,” Kali smiled. Fearing the tone in her voice Brennan turned his attention back to Damon and Shalimar who were now engaged in a strong open mouth kiss. Feeling his heart pound in his chest he watched helplessly as the two undressed each other and slowly began to make love.
* * *
Damon had not made love to a mortal woman for many centuries and he began to remember why he stopped. However he had to admit this mortal had some spunk and he was able to mildly enjoy himself. Shalimar, on the other hand, was thoroughly enjoying herself. She fully immersed herself in the act and was oblivious to anything else around her, even Damon’s eyes, which flashed orange at one point. “Oh God Brennan,” she moaned
* * *
Seeing Shalimar’s enjoyment made Brennan’s heart break. That should be him making love to her and not some demon impersonating him, which was why he refused to believe what he was seeing, “No this isn’t real. This is like the other images you showed me, fake!” “Believe whatever you wish, because you are mine,” Kali replied stroking his cheek. As she spent more time with him she was becoming increasingly convinced of keeping Brennan for herself after she took his powers. Not only was he strong and exactly what she needed to take over the mortal realm but he was also extremely good looking. Giving his cheek a final stroke she smiled seductively before backing away from him. “Leave him be for now,” she ordered her henchmen before leaving Brennan’s heart still pounded in his chest as Kali left. Feeling his anger turn into disgust he decided he couldn’t take it anymore. He couldn’t take Kali’s mind games anymore. Closing his eyes he focused hard on sanctuary and specifically Emma. He didn’t know if he would able to reach her but he had to do something because he wasn’t sure how much more this he could take.
* * *
After analyzing the video footage from the safe house Emma needed to clear her thoughts and ease her mind. Deciding the best way to do that was to meditate she lowered the lights in her room and lit several candles before relaxing and focusing her mind using the calming techniques Shalimar had showed her when they first met. Suddenly a sharp pain ran through Emma’s temple and she couldn’t concentrate. Trying vigorously to clear her mind Emma struggled to remain conscious as blurry visions, sounds and feelings swept through her mind. Swearing that one of the visions contained Brennan; Emma focused all her energy on clearing it up. Vaguely making out an image of Brennan being beaten by two creatures she had only seen in her worst nightmares, Emma grew confused- Brennan was safe in sanctuary not in some hellhole getting the crap beaten out of him. “Emma you have to help me,” Brennan begged. “I don’t understand what is happening?” Emma was getting very confused. “The man you think is me isn’t me he is an imposter, you have to stop him,” Brennan explained. Brennan’s voice began to fade but Emma’s head was suddenly filled with images of a woman under a dark cloak, a man changing his appearance to look like Brennan, and the pain he experienced when the woman absorbed his powers. “Hurry please” said the voice as all the images and feelings began to fade until Emma was violently released from the linked.

“AHHH!” Screamed Brennan as the linked was forcibly broken. Kali shook her head and walked in closer to him, “I’m disappointed Brennan, very disappointed,” she sighed and ran traced a finger across his chest. “Now she gonna have to be taken care of. I didn’t want to kill any of your friends…well that’s a lie, but still she’ll just have to die a little sooner than planned.” “Leave them alone!” Brennan growled. “See I can’t do that,” Kali sat down in her chair and crossed her leg showing him some skin. “Now that she knows something’s not totally right, Damon will have to get her out of the picture.” Brennan pulled against his chains, “Emma will find out the truth and your plan will be toast.” “I highly doubt it,” Kali smirked and stood from her chair. “Have some fun with him until I get back,” she told her henchmen before leaving for her office.
* * *
Emma went back to help Jesse after Brennan made contact with her, but she couldn’t handle watching the images on the CD from the safe house. She was getting hits of their emotions right off the screen, and she thought it was going to make her go insane and after what seemed to be a hit from Brennan she need to get out. Emma stood up from her chair and walked behind Jesse running her hand across his shoulders, “I’ll be back later, ok?” Jesse looked up from his screen and smiled at her, “where you going?” “Just out, but I’ll be back in an hour.” She started walking away. “Hey Em?” Jesse called after her. She stopped and turned around, “ya.” “Are you ok?” Jesse asked very concerned about how Emma has been acting the past couple of days. “I’m fine Jess, I just need to think by my self for a while,” Emma smiled and walked out of the room heading to the garage. Emma climbed into the Audi and took off towards town. She pulled up in front of safe house on the edge of town. Emma took in a deep breath before walking slowly towards the front door. She placed the code into the keypad allowing her access inside. The safe house lights where on inside, “strange.” Emma said out loud walking down the steel staircase. She slowly looked down at the floor getting closer to the living room; the dried blood trail was still present on the floor. Emma moved into the living room her eyes growing wide, seeing a dark figure kneeling down beside one of the pools of blood. It stood up hearing her enter; Emma didn’t know what to do. The Hunter made his way closer to the woman who entered the room. Emma watched him come closer; trying not to panic she quickly gathered a psychic blast and hit the man square in the chest. The Hunter didn’t budge; he took the blast in the chest sucking it into his body. Emma’s eyes were wide, as he was not affected by the blast, “who are you?” She questioned getting another ball ready. “It’s ok, I’m not here to hurt you I’m here for answers.” The Hunter held out his hands in front of him showing her he was unarmed. Emma slowly drew in the mental ball, and reached out trying to read him but he wasn’t letting her in, “like I said who are you?” “I am The Hunter,” he was only a few feet away from her when he stopped. “Ok…Hunter, why are you here and how the hell did you get in?” Emma continued her questions. “Like I said I’m here for some answers,” The Hunter replied. “Answers to what?” Emma asked taking a good look at the man in front of her. He was handsome she could give him that but there was something about him that made him different then others but she couldn’t pick it out. “To the three mutant killings,” he replied. Emma gave him a confused look, “how do you know about that?” Knowing no one else besides Mutant X knew about the killings, except for the killer itself. Realizing that Emma took a step backwards. The Hunter sensed her suspicions and fear, “no I’m not the killer. The killer is one of your friends.” “What?!” Emma stopped in her tracks and waited for his answer. “He’s not what you all think he is… he’s not human,” he explained. Emma moved closer to him again, “who?” The Hunter crossed his arms, “you know whom I speak of, but the others are blinded by his true form.” “I’m confused,” she was having trouble following the man’s explanation. “Here let me show you,” The Hunter held out his hand to make contact with Emma. Emma slowly reached out and touched his hand, the immediate contact sent images flashing through her head. The images flashed by so fast, Emma could hardly see what Hunter was showing her. One set of images slowed down, enough for Emma to get a clear picture. She gasped seeing Brennan’s bruised and bloody figure, his hands chained up over his head. A cloaked figure standing in front of him, a hand placed firmly on is chest. A red glow forming, Brennan’s scream was heard as she watched his energy begin flowing out of him and into this dark figure. The scene quickly changed, Emma watched in horror seeing all her friend including her self chained up against a wall. They soon all began to ever so slowly mutate into hideous beast, losing their mortal will and form becoming complete slaves and warriors against their own world. The Hunter broke their connection after the last set of images. Emma took in a couple of deep breaths, before even trying to process what was just shown to her. “What the hell was that?” “That is your future if you don’t save your friend before Kali finishes her transfer,” The hunter quickly explained, feeling his immortal limits in this world slowly diminish. Emma was confused, “You me that psycho in the cloak?” “Yes,” he shook his head in reply. “What does she want?” Emma questioned. The Hunter felt his powers weaken, “I have no time to explain.” He turned around and started walking off. “Wait!” Emma walked after him. The Hunter turned around, “I will return when the time is right.” With that he turned around created a portal and disappeared into his own world. After he left, Emma went back to her car and made her way back to Sanctuary trying to figure out what the whole encounter meant.
* * *
Emma tried to be quiet walking through the halls of Sanctuary, so not awaken anyone. She stopped dead in her tracks hearing someone clear their throat right behind her. Emma sighed knowing all to well who is what, “hey Shal.” Shalimar was leaning up against the wall with her arms crossed in a pissed off manner. “Where were you?” She asked, being over protective as usual. Emma turned around to face her, “I was out.” The answer not satisfying Shalimar enough, she pressed on. “Doing what?” She pushed her self away from the wall and walked closer to her best friend. “I was just out thinking,” Emma said telling the semi truth. Shalimar didn’t have to be a telepath to read her friend, “You went back to the safe house didn’t you?” Emma huffed, “ya…I had to.” “Why?” Shalimar asked wondering why her friend would put herself in that kind of emotional position again. “I had to go back and work my self through all the emotions I’ve been getting, since we found their bodies.” Emma explained. “Did it help?” Shalimar wondered. Emma thought back to her conversation with The Hunter, “they’re still a little confusing, but I’ll figure them out.” She replied, mainly reassuring herself at the same time. “Alright as long as you’ll be ok,” Shalimar gave a small smile. Emma smiled in return, “I’ll be fine Shal.” “Good, now go get some sleep,” Shalimar ordered giving her grin, before turning around and heading back off to bed. Emma felt guilty not telling Shalimar about the man she met at the safe house, but she knew Shalimar wouldn’t understand or even believe her.

Shalimar went back to her own room after she talked to Emma, both unaware that there conversation and thoughts were being listened in on. Damon got his information and opened up a portal to his own world. When he appeared in one of the dark hallways, he was dressed in a long black cloak with his hands stuffed in his sleeves held out in front of him. He sauntered down the corridor heading to the cell holding Brennan. Damon entered causing everyone in the room to turn around and look at him. Brennan was the last one to look up, he could barely open his swollen eyes up to see a dark figure standing in the door, only showing his silhouette in the doorway from the torches light outside in the hall. Kali smiled as Damon started his way over to them. “What news have you brought me?” Damon looked up and pushed his hood back so Brennan could see his face clearly. “I think she knows,” he said in Brennan’s voice. “Can you sense it?” She asked him as he stopped in front of him. “Yes her suspicions of me are very strong,” Damon sighed. Kali’s lip curled up underneath her hood, “I figured she would.” Damon gulped and slowly started his next part, “we have another problem.” “Oh really?” Kali lifted up one eyebrow. “The Hunter has been awoken,” Damon quickly said. Kali just stood there for a second, “I know…. I felt his presence.” “I think she has seen him, what do you want me to do about our problem?” Damon asked. “I want you to get rid of her,” Kali said looking over at Brennan giving him a sweet smile as he overheard the entire conversation. Brennan looked pissed even without knowing which of the girls they were talking about, and Kali thought it would be fun to set him off more. Kali moved over closer to him, “you’re little girly friend is about to be joining you down here,” she whispered into his ear. Brennan pulled at his bond baring his teeth as she moved away from him. “If he tries to hurt Shalimar I’ll kill him.” “Look I hit a soft spot,” Kali smiled loving how she could easily manipulate him, just by hinting to Shalimar even if it wasn’t about her. Brennan growled at her, pulling once again at his chains. Kali ran a hand up Brennan’s bare chest, “forget about the feral when you could have better.” Brennan’s lip curled in disgust. Damon’s hands formed into a tight ball, he did not like the way Kali acted around Brennan. She was hitting on a mortal instead of someone more to her stature. It made him want to hurt this mortal in front of him in more ways than ever thought possible. Damon was snapped out of his trance when Kali turned around toward him, “I want her soul Damon.” “Yes my lady,” Damon nodded his head. “What about the Hunter what should I do about him?” “I have a feeling we won’t be a problem with him,” Kali explained. “Don’t you fail me,” Kali smiled underneath her hood. “I won’t,” Damon grinned and walked out of the cell as Brennan swore at his retreating figure.

“How’s Emma?” Adam asked Shalimar as she entered the lab a little worried about how she was reacting to the murders. “She say’s she’s fine but I don’t know,” Shalimar huffed leaning up against a table. “She seems a little off, after what we found at the safe house she’s been acting weird lately.” Adam listened to Shalimar before cutting in, “we’ll all have to watch her closely. What you guys saw there was traumatizing for all of you, but being a Psionic in that situation it was probably worse. She most likely could feel all of their emotions before they died and that could haunt her.” “Tell me about it,” Shalimar sighed recalling her own emotions. “I’ll tell Jesse and Brennan to help me keep an eye on her.” “Good,” Adam smiled slightly and turned around heading back over to the three bodies. Shalimar stayed where she was and gulped not wanting to see the three like they were. “Have you found anything?” “Not much on the bodies, but Jesse found something on the video chip after figuring out how to get it to play in night vision, well what was on it at least.” Adam answered. Shalimar went over to the computer and brought up the file. She opened the saved clip Jesse pulled from the video and played it. It was a few minutes long, but Shalimar watched it intensely. It began with the three all gathering at the couch to watch a movie, when the lights blacked out. The camera switched to night vision, revealing a dark figure suddenly standing in front of them. It was dressed in a long black cloak with a large hood covering its head and shadowing it face. Shalimar watched the three mutants try to take it down but nothing worked, her eyes widened seeing a sword being drawn from behind the cloak. Shalimar winced and almost covered her eyes when the sword was quickly swung across Troy’s neck taking off his head. Leigh and Josh ran out of the room trying to get away, the figure looked up showing his glowing orange eyes, then the video stopped. She couldn’t help but rub her neck, “a sword?” she asked Adam in disbelief. “It seems to be,” Adam answered not looking up from the bodies. Shalimar still wasn’t sure if she could believe that, “is it a feral?” “It’s hard to tell it could very well be,” Adam said. “Well all I know, is that what feral in their right mind would you a sword instead of killing them with their bare hands,” Shalimar said with a small smile trying to lighten the mood a bit. Adam couldn’t help but smile, “well we should be getting the audio; soon Jesse’s still trying to get it clearer.” “Good,” Shalimar stood up and closed out the file. “I’m gonna go check on Emma, I’ll talk to you later.” She said heading to the door. “Ok,” Adam replied not really paying attention to her, but to his examination of the bodies. Shalimar walked out of the lab and head for Emma’s room, she slowly brought her hand up and knocked on the door when she stopped in front of it. “It’s open,” Emma’s voice rang from inside. Shalimar opened up the door and stuck her head in; she found the Psionic sitting cross-legged on her bed trying to mediate, “I just wanted to make sure you were ok.” “Why wouldn’t I be?” Emma asked slowly opening her eyes to look at her friend. “Well you seemed pretty shaking up about the whole murder thing, and we were worried.” Shalimar confessed. Emma gave her, her best fake smile “I’m fine Shal.” “Ok…” Shalimar wasn’t totally convinced. “Well we’re here for you if you need to talk about it.” Shalimar smiled and closed the door leaving Emma alone. Emma closed her eyes but quickly grabbed her head, as someone pushed there way into Emma’s mind trying to connect to her. “What are you doing?” Emma yelled out rubbing her temples. “Showing you more,” Hunter voice replied showing her more up close pictures of the deaths of the mutants at the safe house. “Stop it Hunter, I can’t take it anymore!” Emma yelled. Shalimar stood outside Emma’s door listening to the conversation inside Emma’s room. She wanted to go back and find out what was wrong, but thought it best for Emma to have some time to her self and try to figure it out, so she turned and headed to the kitchen. Damon watched Emma from the dark corner of her room. He eased his way into her mind as the faithful Hunter, “come on Emma let me show you more.” “NO please no!” Emma got up and stormed off to the bathroom to take a long bath. Damon stepped out of the shadows in her room letting an evil smile cross his face as he slowly moved towards the bathroom. Emma quickly drew up a bath adding many spa senses to help sooth her. She slipped in the bath and closed her eyes resting her head on the back of the tub. She lied there for a couple of minutes in peace, with no interruptions from Hunter wanting her to see more of what was to come. Emma sighed deeply finally being able to relax, she suddenly heard a noise and opened up her eyes slowly. A dark figure stood in the doorway; Emma’s eyes couldn’t focus right. She rubbed her eyes as the figure moved close. Emma finally saw the facial features of the man and was about to create a psionic blast to knock him out but something was preventing her. “You can try all you want Emma but nothing is going to happen,” Brennan’s voice echoed in the bathroom as Damon moved closer to the tub. Emma opened her mouth to scream but Damon was immediately right beside her with his hand over her mouth. “You don’t want to do that Emma, I wouldn’t want to kill all of you friends as well,” Damon grinned, “well not just yet at least.” Damon pulled out a small modern like dagger from underneath his jacket and placed it on Emma’s bare neck. “So beautiful, yet so stupid.” Damon whispered to her keeping his hand tightly on her mouth.

He moved the dagger down to her wrist, “Isn’t this the perfect ending to the Psionic mutant… death by suicide. Now only to make it a little more realistic,” Damon grinned slightly scratching her both of her wrists, trying to create hesitation marks. Emma started to cry as he dug in deeper letting the blood slowly drain from her body. The water in the tub slowly faded to a deep blood red and Emma’s face lost all facial expression. Damon watched with delight as Emma’s body jerked a few times before her entire body went limp. He placed his hand over Emma’s forehead, closing his eyes softly chanting as a blue glow surround Emma’s body entering his palm. Damon dropped the knife in the tub after he was finished and backed away leaving his mess behind him. He opened up a portal sending him to his master. Damon entered the cell finding Kali’s henchmen taking turns torturing Brennan, as there master stood only feet away with her arms crossed and her face still covered by the shadows of her oversized hood. Damon walked over to Kali with a sly smile spread broadly across his face. Kali raised her hand signaling her henchmen to stop, letting Brennan have a little air. Damon glanced at Brennan’s mutilated and bruised body still chained to the back wall. “It’s done,” he turned his attention back over to Kali. “She won’t be a problem anymore and the rest of his friends…,” Damon nodded towards Brennan, who slowly looked up at the two, “will think it was a suicide.” Kali grinned, “very nice, I’m pleased Damon. Very pleased.” Kali walked over to Brennan, she tilted his chin up with her index finger. Then slowly whipped the blood dripping from the corner of Brennan’s lip and brought the finger up slowly to her mouth licking it clean. “My transformation is almost complete Brennan, and once I’m done I promise I’ll end your pain and suffering forever. You have my word,” Kali grinned and backed away from Brennan letting his head go limp again. Kali stopped in front of Damon, “Go back and make sure his friends don’t get suspicious, report back if they do. I need to go rest before the next step of the transformation.” Kali walked off towards the door. “Yes master,” Damon bowed his head and opened a portal up to take him back to his room at Sanctuary.
Shalimar paced the hall, something didn’t feel right, worrying about Emma and Brennan sent her instinct on over drive. She found herself walking into the lab; Adam was hunched over his work at his desk. He looked up hearing the door slide shut, “what’s keeping you up Shal?” He asked returning his attention to his work. She huffed and leaned against a wall, “I have a bad feeling about something.” “Shal I think you are being to uptight,” Adam told her slowly looking up from his work again. “It is in my nature to worry about stuff,” Shalimar started to pace again. “You should get some sleep Shal everything is fine,” Adam replied giving a small smile. Shalimar sighed again, “ya you’re right I should get some sleep. Its just everything has been a little stressful lately.” “I know it has, but you need your sleep. I need you at the top of your game when we find this psycho,” Adam pinched the bridge of his nose. “Ok…I’ll go to bed,” Shalimar agreed. “Goodnight Adam,” she turned and started her way out. “Goodnight,” Adam replied before going to work again. Once Shalimar was out of the lab she gave a low growl, “sleep I disagree.” She walked off towards Emma’s room, getting a weird vibe as she crept closer. She stopped in front of the door and raised her hand to knock; Shalimar hesitated for a second but then gave the door a good knock. No one answered so she knocked again a little harder, “Emma?” Still nothing, “odd,” Shal whispered to herself. She reached out and gripped the door knob, Emma’s door eased open slowly. The room was dark, so Shalimar slowly entered and flashing her feral eyes for a second to see if Emma was on the bed. The light coming from underneath the bathroom door cascaded into the room slightly. Shalimar walked over the bathroom and knocked on the door, “Emma can I come in for a second,” she waited for a reply but there was nothing. So once again she reached door and tried the door. It opened up again, but this time Shalimar knew something was wrong. Her feral nose picked up a strong sent of blood when the door opened, causing panic to sweep over her body. She swung the door open immediately seeing Emma’s body in the tub. The water stained red with blood and an extremely large puddle of blood underneath Emma’s limp hand. Shalimar couldn’t help but let out a loud high pitched scream that pierced through the silence of Sanctuary, before rushing over to her friends’ side. Shalimar didn’t know what to do, her hands where shaking and she slowly reached to check for a pulse. Her vision was now blurred from the tears streaming down her face as she placed two fingers on the side of Emma’s cold neck. Adam, Jesse, and Brennan busted into Emma’s room hearing Shalimar’s high pitched scream. Adam and Jesse went straight to the bathroom seeing Shalimar kneeling next to the tub. “Oh my God, Emma!” Adam gasped at the sight of Emma. Shalimar looked up at the two men by her side, her eyes all puffy and slightly hyperventilating, “she’s…she’s….she’s dead,” she finally blurted out in between sobs. “No…she’s not dead,” Jesse denied the fact. Adam moved over and put a hand on Shalimar’s shoulder, nodding for her to move out of the way. He could tell by the way Emma looked she had already passed on, but he still checked for a pulse getting nothing. “She’s gone, there is nothing we can do,” Adam sighed. Jesse’s eyes started to swell up with tears, and Damon finally moved from his spot in the bathroom door way and over to the group. He looked over and finally saw the tears streaming down Jesse’s face along with Adam who was wiping them away trying to hide his emotion. “She can’t be…” Jesse choked. “There must be something you can do.” Adam looked up, “there’s nothing I can do, and she’s already gone.” “No Adam you have to help her,” Jesse begged. “Jesse I’m sorry I can’t do anything,” Adam told him again, knowing the molecular wasn’t going to give up. “That’s not good enough Adam!” Jesse started to yell upsetting Shalimar even more than she was. “YOU have to DO something!” Adam stood up and grabbed a hold of the distressed young man’s shoulder, “Jesse I’m sorry but she’s gone.” She suddenly leaned into Brennan and sobbed into his chest. Damon didn’t know how to handle the mortal’s moves, but he gentle put his arm around her, seeing Adam embrace Jesse in a hug as both men cried.

Damon watched feeling no emotion towards the death of Emma, or her murder for that matter. He just looked down upon her and a small smile crossed his face. Adam and Jesse finally controlled themselves, Adam turned around to look at Emma “we need to get her to the lab.” Jesse hesitated to volunteer; Damon broke away from Shalimar “let me do it.” It was the only way he knew that might help him show that he cared about her. Adam nodded in approval, before Damon walked over to the tub and picked up Emma’s cold body. Jesse quickly grabbed a towel and draped it over her, and then Damon made his way to the lab with the others right on his heels. Damon placed Emma on the med chair and stepped away quickly for Adam to run his scan. The yellow beam swept across Emma’s body quickly, Adam sighed looking at the results “she’s gone.” Tears started streaming down Shalimar’s face again. “She can be…” “I’m sorry Shal there’s nothing I can do she’s lost too much blood…we can’t bring her back.” Adam lowered his head in shame knowing for once he could not save one of them. “No you have to try Adam,” Jesse begged. “Jesse she’s gone,” he walked over and placed a white sheet over Emma’s dead body. “NO!!” Jesse screamed crumbling down on his knee’s crying his heart out. Shalimar knelt down and hugged Jesse, holding him close for not just his comfort but her own. Damon just stood back trying to make it look like he was effected by Emma’s death, but he wasn’t he enjoyed seeing the pain of the Mutant X team. He knew Kali was going to be very pleased about getting a member of Mutant X in her control.
